Concrete Slab Settlement
Challenge
The homeowner of a single family home located in Plainsboro, New Jersey decided to call Foundation Supportworks of New Jersey when he noticed settled and sunken concrete slabs near the garage at his home. The concrete slab of the 1,995 square foot home experienced a total of 1 ½ inches of settlement. The homeowner had been living at the home for 2 years before he decided to take care of the trip hazards. The sunken and settling slabs began to alarm the homeowner for the safety and value, of his family and property.
Solution
Foundation Supportworks of New Jersey remedied the homeowner’s problem with the PolyLEVEL (TM) Polyurethane Injection System. Head PolyLEVEL (TM) Specialist, Joe Nero, drilled penny sized holes into the settling and sunken parts of the concrete slab. He then used specialized equipment to inject the polyurethane under the concrete and raise it back to its original elevation. When injected the polyurethane expands into a waterproof, rigid foam that is used to fill voids, stabilize slabs, and lift concrete. With the use of the PolyLEVEL (TM) system, exclusively available to Foundation Supportworks dealers, we were able to lift and stabilize the settling concrete slab(s). The PolyLEVELTM system was installed in less than one day, with absolutely no mess left behind. The concrete slab at the home was immediately able to be walked on just a few moments after installation. This fast installation process gave the homeowner peace of mind and left him very happy knowing that his family can safely utilize their total living space with no future settlement issues at their home.
